Bodyguard's Cattery
My name is Ann-Louise De Voe and my cattery is located in Grove City (close to Columbus), Ohio. It is a very small cattery. I was born in Sweden and lived there until I was 29 years old when I met my American husband and decided to move to Ohio. I bred and showed Burmese in Sweden at that time. It is a very big hobby of mine and it would have been hard if I had to give it up. I am very thankful to my husband that lets me keep the cats and have litters. I am co-owning females with friends of mine so I can keep more bloodlines in my breeding program.
The kittens that are born in my house are raised with lots of love.
I weigh my kittens every day to make sure that they are gaining the weight that they should. The kittens are being handled by my family (3 year old daughter and husband) and me every day. When they are big enough to run around and find their way back to the litter box I give them the run of the house, but only when I am home. When I am at work they are in a 'kitty room' so I can be sure that they don't get into trouble. My main priority with my breeding program is to breed healthy cats with a good temperament, which I hope is the main priority for all breeders. In addition I am of course trying to breed show quality cats. When I choose the cats that I will be using in my breeding program I first look for bloodlines that I need and the type comes as second priority.
I am the President of the Worldwide European Burmese Society (WEBS) and the Secretary of Ohio State Persian club (no, I do not have any Persian cats, I am only a member so I can participate in a club that puts on shows). I also work full-time as a Senior Accountant (Lee Middleton Original Dolls).
I am breeding the European Burmese which means that they do NOT have any CFA (American) Burmese bloodlines in the pedigree. They are considered to be two different breeds in the Cat Fanciers' Association (United States) and I totally support that decision. The main difference is the type and on top of that the colors are somewhat different. The American Burmese comes in four colors and the European Burmese comes in the same four colors plus six additional. The temperament is the same for the two breeds.
